LYFE Program
LYFE (Living for the Young Family Through Education) offers childcare services to young parents who wish to stay in school and complete their high school education. The LYFE nurseries are staffed with a social worker, two licensed early childhood teachers, a family assistant and four educational paraprofessionals. All staff members have specialized training in infant-toddler development, health and safety. The LYFE Program is grounded in an understanding of child development and based on accepted best practices in infant-toddler education.
Each LYFE Center practices primary care-giving, which means that a small group of children is assigned to each primary caregiver ensuring individualized, continuous care. The LYFE Social Worker provides an array of comprehensive social services to meet the needs of students and their families. They work with the immediate and extended family to stabilize the environment so that the young parent can concentrate on school attendance and academic success. The program is available to any parenting student who attends a Department of Education School/Program, and has children ages two months to 2.9years of age.
The LYFE Program is also available to students who attend schools outside of Morris High School Campus. For additional information, contact the social worker, Sharon Cook, LCSW, at 718-378-4006.
